Alright, so on top of being a sport fan, a book lover, movie whore, music lover, comic book geek, techy nerd, and a lovable dork...
I'm also an anime' nerdlette.

Anime (ah-NIH-may)
is a term for Japanese animation. Anime often covers more serious
topics than the typical cartoon. In America, cartoons are considered
a form of entertainment meant for children. In Japan, people of
all ages watch anime.
Most shows and movies are centered for kids,
adolescents, or young adults, but there are also many anime that
are made for the older crowds, even
businessmen. There are many genres in anime with basic categories
like comedy, romance, action, drama, and pornography (hentai).
There are also anime with content meant specifically for boys (shounen),
girls (shoujo),
and businessmen.
As a child I watched Superbook and The Flying House as well as Sailor
Moon and loved the animation. It was different from the Saturday
morning cartoons. The style and artistic expression completely
different (not that I didn't love Saturday morning classics but let's
save that for another blog).

Probably the
most readily apparent differences between Japanese animation and
other places is the artwork. Huge eyes, brightly colored hair, well-endowed
female characters, and exaggerated emotional expressions and gestures
are typical of anime style. Early anime artists were largely influenced
by early Disney characters like the Seven Dwarves from Snow White,
Mickey Mouse, and the non-Disney Betty Boop. All of these characters
had large eyes, and Betty Boop was certainly well-endowed.

This opened Me up to the world of Anime. I love it. Thanks to My wonderful children (who are completely immersed in anime) I've rekindled My love for it over the last several years. The style and story lines are completely captivating. I love color, the imagery, the basic feel of a good anime. There's an entire subculture devoted to it here in America.

I personally love a few for various reasons... Hetalia is a favorite because My girls watched it, loved it, and learned from it.. it's based loosely on world geography and history. The characters are all countries. They know more about world history and geography due to this than most adults... I have to say they put Me to shame in this area... who wouldn't love a cartoon that does that! The characters are funny as heck too.

My two all time favorites are Another and Death Note. Another is a horror anime that you have to pay close attention to understand and appreciate. Death Note is a psychological supernatural anime that keeps you in suspense throughout the series.
There are two I've yet to watch but I want to because My daughters love them and they have remarkable taste in all things entertainment (quite like their Mom)
Beyond the Boundary is about a girl who's spirit world warrior who can manipulate her own blood (the last of her kind). She has to hide her ability but she befriends a boy who walks the journey with her and they help each other grow.
Twins of Satan, who are human and Supernatural, who have a death in their family, so they want revenge... and who else do they want revenge on than the one who causes death... Satan, their father.
(BTW.... I have Alexis sitting here with Me helping Me with this blog.. she just informed Me that much, ok Most of My writing is pretentious. (which she says isn't always a bad thing) but that this blog isn't at all pretentious and she likes it... I personally think she just likes the content of this blog much more than the others... but she's right, I do tend to write with an air of pretension.)

Very interesting Mistress. Only one that i am even a bit familiar with is Pokémon...The boys were into that and now Amber is. i have seen a few others as they watched them but never really paid much attention. i am not all that interesting it seems. Lol. Either way, thank You for sharing Mistress.
ok Mistress ... though i do know of (of course) anime and get the fascination, it has truly never been much of an interest of mine. Not sure why. i do appreciate the art and style and can definitely see the impact it has left on the art world. i do know i have never really given it a chance, however. Maybe i should take your list here, with the help of Alex (lol), and see what it is that i am missing.
oh and not to disagree with Alex but i don't find you pretentious - opinionated, always right - but not pretentious ;)
